I’ve been so focused on ROTTEN AT THE HEART that I’ve sorta blown of the regular blog stuff. But I’m making an exception today. You’ve heard of Snubnose Press, right? New guys in the game, but they kicked things off with SPEEDLOADER, which was a hell of a collection, then Sandra Ruttan’s HARVEST OF RUINS, and most recently Keith Rawson’s THE CHAOS WE KNOW. Well, they’ve confirmed their good taste by adding me to their roster.
Snubnose will be publishing a collection of my short fiction entitled OLD SCHOOL sometime in early 2012. Why OLD SCHOOL? Some of you know I’m no spring chicken – and neither are the people I write about, usually. So my collection features folks getting on in years. It’s divided into three sections — Middle Age, featuring characters starting that long downhill slide and holding on for the ride, if they’re lucky; The Golden Years, for those close enough to the grave to catch a good whiff; and The Afterlife, because sometimes death isn’t the end. And another cool thing? I’m working with the Snubnose folk to figure out how to release an audio version along with the regular deal. What can I say? I love the sound of my own voice.
So I’ll get back to Will Shakespeare’s adventures as an Elizabethan private dick tomorrow. Not fair, really, since I already got back to it today after I got official word on OLD SCHOOL – I mean that’s what you do if you’re a writer, right? You write. But I figured a book deal is at least worth a blog post.
OK, that’s out of my system. Back to work.
